On July 11, 2015, at approximately 12:45am, a suspect described as a black male entered the Akron Market Amoco and confronted an employee of the business with a firearm while demanding money from the cash register. The suspect fled the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was not injured during the robbery.
On November 8th, Shortly after 8:00pm, patrol officers with the WSPD responded to the Family Dollar located on Old Rural Hall Road on a reported armed robbery. According to witnesses, two suspects entered the business through the front door. One suspect remained at the front door, while the second suspect proceeded to rob the business while brandishing a handgun. The second suspect fired multiple shots inside the business, striking employees. Those injuries are not life threatening. The two suspects then fled the business with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Tuesday November 17, 2015, the WSPD arrested 27 year-old Richard Thomas(Tommy) Little on unrelated charges. Little has been in custody since that time. On Friday November 20th, authorities charged Richard Thomas Little with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon in connection to the July 11th robbery of the Akron Market Amoco. Authorities also charged Richard Little with two counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury in connection to the November 08th robbery of the Family Dollar.
