Chief Rountree Meets with NC Latino Coalition

The North Carolina Latino Coalition hosted a meeting with Winston-Salem Police Chief Barry D. Rountree on September 27, 2013. The meeting was held at Green Street UMC.

The purpose of the meeting was the allow members of the Hispanic community to dialog with the Chief of police in hope to build lasting relationships between the Latino Immigrant Community in Winston-Salem and the WSPD.

Chief Rountree presented an overview of the Winston-Salem Police Department’s functions and role in the community.  chief Rountree elaborated on the responsibilities of the Office of the Chief of Police and the three bureaus of the police department, which include the Investigative Services Bureau, Field Services Bureau and Support Services Bureau.  Rountree also shared his over-arching goals for the police department and encouraged individuals at the meeting to become and stay  engaged with the WSPD and their community. Chief Rountree and his staff also answered questions from individuals at the meeting and provided information on employment opportunities, upcoming events, and other services available to the Hispanic community.

Attorney Marina Castillo Gomez stated “The meeting was wonderful and the Hispanic community was grateful to speak with the Chief of Police, we are hoping to have more opportunities to build bridges between the Hispanic community and the police department.”
