Accidental Shooting Leads Man to File a False Report in Cover-up Attempt

Early Tuesday morning, officers with the WSPD responded to the Innkeeper motel at 2115 Peters Creek Parkway on a reported disturbance with weapons. Officers arrived on scene and were alerted by witnesses that gunfire was exchanged during the altercation. Witnesses pointed out an involved vehicle fleeing from the hotel on Peters Creek Parkway. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however it fled from the area.
The vehicle was pursued, and the driver eventually jumped from the moving vehicle while in the 300 block of Monmouth Street. The suspect fled on foot and was captured approximately 2 hours later in the 1700 block of Vargrave Street. He was identified as Terry Antoine Young. Mr. Young had sustained serious injuries presumed to have occurred while leaping from the moving vehicle. He was transported to Forsyth Hospital and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
A passenger in the vehicle took control as the driver and fled from Monmouth Street. They were stopped by police moments later in the 2200 block of Thomasville Road where the front passenger, Mr. Charles Darnell Perry, was discovered to have been shot in the upper thigh during the altercation at the Innkeeper. He was transported to Baptist Hospital and receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Ms. Sherri Myers sustained a gunshot wound to her lower leg during the altercation at The Innkeeper. She was also a passenger in the vehicle that fled from police and was located on scene on Monmouth Street. She received treatment at Baptist Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
This investigation is in preliminary stages and will remain an open active case. At this point Terry Antoine Young has been charged with Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest and Resist Delay an Officer, and he has additional outstanding warrants. His bond is still pending at this time.
