NC DOT to Close US 52 Lanes Overnight Beginning March 31

According the the North Carolina Department of Transportation, motorists who travel on U.S. 52 near I-40 here in Winston-Salem next week will encounter nighttime lane closures as work crews remove an aging pedestrian bridge.

Monday Night

From 11 pm on Monday, March 31, until 5am on Tuesday, April 1, all lanes of U.S. 52 North between I-40 Business and I-40 will be closed to allow crews to remove a pedestrian bridge.

Also during this time, AT&T will implement a brief rolling road block in the southbound lanes of this section of U.S. 52. Crews will temporarily stop all southbound traffic for about 10 minutes to remove a utility line. Once the line is removed, the right travel lane will reopen to traffic and the left travel lane will remain closed.

During this closure, motorists on U.S. 52 North will be instructed to take I-40 West to Peters Creek Parkway (Exit 192) to Business 40 East back to U.S. 52 North.

Tuesday Night

The following night, crews will remove the other half of the pedestrian bridge. This will require all lanes of U.S. 52 South between I-40 and I-40 Business to be closed from 11pm on Tuesday, April 1, until 5am on Wednesday, April 2. The right lane on this section of U.S. 52 North will also be closed during this time.

During this closure, motorists will take U.S. 52 South to Business 40 West (Exit 109B) to Peters Creek Parkway (Exit 5A) to I-40 East back to U.S. 52 South (Exit 193A) to detour around the work area.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information and use extreme caution in the work zone.
