Accidental Shooting Leads Man to File a False Report in Cover-up Attempt

On Tuesday 7:18pm, the WSPD responded to a Discharging Firearms on Quinn Forest Way. Upon arrival, patrol Officers located the victim, Jessica Marie Tish suffering from a single gunshot to the abdomen. Mrs. Tish was transported to Baptist Hospital, where she is currently being treated for this injury.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the scene, and assumed investigative responsibility for this incident.
Preliminary information indicates that Mrs. Tish was accidentally shot by her husband, who was handling a gun in close proximity to her. Mrs. Tish’s husband, Nikolaos Keefe Tish, has been employed with the WSPD since August 31st, 2015. Mr. Tish is currently assigned to the Basic Law Enforcement Training Class (BLET) of the WSPD.
The weapon discharged in this incident is the personal property of Mr. Tish, and is not the property of the WSPD.
Recruit Tish is using personal leave time to tend to the well-being of his family. Because this incident remains under investigation no additional information will be released at this time.
