During the evening session on Aug. 21, the Winston-Salem Open will welcome Andy Roddick, James Blake, Mardy Fish and Jim Courier for some friendly competition between American tennis legends. Each PowerShares event features two one-set semifinal matches and a one-set championship match. The Winston-Salem Open was announced Monday as one of 12 cities that will host an event on the circuit this year.

“The PowerShares Legends Series is something we’re very excited to be able to bring to our fans for the first time in 2016,” tournament director Bill Oakes said. “Getting the chance to watch and meet guys like Roddick, Blake, Fish and Courier is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we’re thrilled to be one of 12 cities and to be hosting a PowerShares event this summer.”

Included with the matches will be small group clinics and behind-the-scenes opportunities to meet the players. More information, including ticket prices, availability and group information, will be released at a later date on WinstonSalemOpen.com.

The PowerShares Series is a tennis circuit for champion players over the age of 30. Other players competing in 2016 at various locations include Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Mark Philippoussis. The Winston-Salem Open is the only men’s tournament on the Emirates Airline US Open Series in line to host a PowerShares Series event in 2016. The Connecticut Open will also be hosting a PowerShares Series event on Aug. 25 and 26 featuring Agassi, McEnroe, Blake and Fish.

In 2015, Roddick won the PowerShares Series points title in his second year of competing on the series by winning eight events. Blake finished second behind Roddick with two event wins.

The 2016 Winston-Salem Open will be held August 20-27, 2016 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex adjacent to BB&T Field.
