Sherwood Forest Home Broken Into and Homeowner Shot At

On Wednesday at approximately 8:20am, patrol officers with the WSPD repsonded to a call for assistance following an attempted shooting. When officers arrived at the home on the 400 block of Stonegate Lane they found the 45 year-old female victim with an injury and a home that had been broken into.

According to the WSPD the victim was returning to her residence when she observed the rear door to the house damaged and standing open.

She had not exited her vehicle when a white male of slender build wearing a green hoodie and carrying a handgun approached the driver’s door from behind the vehicle and pointed the gun at her. The suspect demanded that she get out of the vehicle, and then discharged the gun one time with the bullet striking the left rear door.

The victim slammed the car into reverse and the suspect fired another round which hit the front windshield. Her vehicle hit a tree while backing up, at which time she jumped out and ran. As the vshe was running, she fell down causing an injury to her shoulder. The victim was treated for her injury at Baptist Hospital and later released.

A police K9 track lead officers south into the Gordon Manor neighborhood where a witness reported seeing the suspects running south away from the incident location toward Cliffdale Dr. According to that witness he was accompanied by a black male of slender build wearing a gray hoodie. Another witness observed seeing a small, red vehicle they described as a sports car with a spoiler on the back, speeding south on Cliffdale Dr. toward Country Club Rd.
