Accidental Shooting Leads Man to File a False Report in Cover-up Attempt

On Friday at approximately 3:33pm, patrol officers with the WSPD responded to a reported “Unknown Trouble” call in the 200 block of Betsy Drive. Upon arrival officers were infromed that an unknown male attempted to “Kidnap” a 10-year.
Witnesses told police that the victim was walking in the Betsy Drive area when a masked male exited a gold sedan and attempted to grab them. The juvenile was able to escape and seek safe refuge in a nearby residence. The suspect then left the area in the gold-colored sedan.
The child was not physically injured from this incident.
This case will be referred to the Detective Division but it is currently ongoing and actively being investigated by the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Patrol Division.
Winston-Salem Police Department is asking for the communities help in locating and identifying the vehicle that was reportedly involved. It is described as a Gold-colored Passenger vehicle (possibly a Nissan sedan) and was last seen in the 200 block of Betsy Drive on Friday..
