Accidental Shooting Leads Man to File a False Report in Cover-up Attempt

On Sunday at approximately 11:35pm, patrol officers with the WSPD responded to the 300 blk of N. Marshall Street on a report of a stolen vehicle.
According to authorities, 53 year-old Heather Sivert, was getting into her BMW SUV vehicle when 47 year-old Eberto Plasencia pulled her from the vehicle. Plasencia then stole the Sivert’s vehicle and drove away.
When Plasencia spotted a police cruiser he decided to make a run for it. Plasencia wrecked the stolen BMW at the corner of 9th Street and Trade Street when he collided with the E. G. Forrest Company building. The building sustained significant structural damage and Ms. Sivert’s BMW was damaged beyond repair.
After crashing Plasencia ran the vehicle and was apprehended a short distance away while attempting to hide in a dumpster.
Plasencia, was admitted into Baptist Hospital in critical condition due to injuries sustained from the vehicle accident. He will face multiple criminal charges once he recovers from his injuries.
