Accidental Shooting Leads Man to File a False Report in Cover-up Attempt

On Monday approximately 10:37am, patrol officers with the WSPD were dispatched to the 1200 block of Earl Street on an “Unknown Trouble” call. When officers arrived on scene they located the body of 23 year-old Jonathan Noyola Rosales in a wooded area adjacent to the street.
While this is being investigated as a homicide, authorities have not released the cause of death or any other details. Mr. Rosales’ death is the eleventh homicide to occur in Winston-Salem in 2015, as compared to twelve homicides during the same time frame of 2014.

UPDATE:
The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Jonathan Noyola Rosales died as a result of a gunshot wound. The investigation into Mr. Rosales’ death is still in the preliminary stages. Investigators do not believe that the shooting occurred at the location where Mr. Rosales’ body was discovered.
