WSPD Investigating First Homicide of 2016

Saturday morning at approximately 1:18am, patrol officers with the WSPD responded to the 300 block of W. 4th Street on a reported shooting. When they reached the scene, officers located 35 year-old Robert Hall of Lexington lying on the sidewalk. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Mr. Hall was transported to Baptist Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed investigation. The next of kin has been notified and the investigation is in the early stages. Police are looking for a suspect who feld the scene. He is described as a black male of average height with a medium build. He was wearing an orange tobaggan and carrying a handgun.

This is the 1st homicide to occur in 2016, as compared to 0 homicides for the same period of time in 2015.
