The Downtown Bicycle Patrol is again soliciting donations of gently used or new blankets, gloves and knit caps to help the homeless this winter.
Donation boxes will be placed in the lobby of the Public Safety Center, 725 N. Cherry St.; in City Hall outside the Human Relations Department, Suite 109, 101 N. Main St.; and outside the Bicycle Patrol Office at 414 N. Cherry St. across from the Marriott hotel.
The Bike Patrol initiated the blanket drive in 2014 to assist homeless people who, for various reasons, cannot or do not stay at a shelter. “Over the past two years, these donations have saved lives and shown people that we care,” Henry said. “The Bike Patrol thanks everyone who has donated items to help us help those who have no one to care for them.”
